What is the correct way to format your resume if you'd like to include an "online resume" website as well?
Q. I have created an "online resume" that shows some of the projects I've done during my career, as well as peer recommendations and their contact information if references are required. My resume gives brief detail about my accomplishments, but my online resume goes into more detail. How do I get someone to look at my online resume when I am submitting my hard copy resume for consideration?
Asked by All Beef Patty - Sat Aug 22 19:34:12 2009 - - 1 Answers - 1 Comments

A. The invention of websites such as "visualcv.com" and "linkedin.com" has increased the number of job seekers with access to this great feature--the online resume. It can absolutely be helpful and should not be overlooked. The best place to put this feature is to include it in the heading with your contact information. Example: Name Address Phone numbers Website address. Other options are to include it at the end of the objective sentence (if you have one) or below the title of the resume.

What's the difference between a faxed resume and an emailed resume?
Q. I have to send out a resume to jobs I am applying to, but a lot of employers want resumes to be faxed rather than email. I don't have a fax machine, which is why it is easier for me to just send it by email. It is inconvenient to go somewhere and pay to get my resume faxed. I can't afford a fax machine right now, so this makes things worse. What is the difference between a resume sent by fax and one sent by email?
Asked by swizzy74 - Fri Dec 11 16:18:08 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments

A. If you fax it, then they don't have to print it. They can simply have someone pick up the faxes and distribute them. If you want the job, you'll fax copies in. Plus, employers don't want hundreds of emails clogging up their inbox.

Q. I am an upcoming senior in high school and one of our summer assignments is to compose a cover letter along with our resume. I have searched online but I could only find how to compose resumes after graduating. I do not have any work experience so I know that I do not need to include that information in my resume. Any information, suggestions, or examples could help. Thank you so much.

A. A resume should for a high school student should include an Education section, where you list the name of your high school, its location, your years of attendance, your expected date of graduation, and your GPA (if above a 3.0). (Do not include your middle school or elementary school.) It should have an Activities section, where you include the names of all clubs, sports, honor societies, etc. in which you participate, along with your years of participation, and any leadership roles you may have held (ex. Co-President, Secretary). These should be in reverse chronological order so that the ones you're in currently are listed before the ones you may have only been a member of as a freshman. How much should be paid for a professional resume' writer?
Q. I have been in telecom sales and management for 25 years. Reduction in force requries me to look for another job. I have used the same resume with updates, same format for the last 6 years. Headhunters and potential employers say that my resume looks good but I am not getting results after 6 weeks. A resume' professional service critiqued and pointed out some viable potential improvements. They want to redo my resume' for $600. Seems pricey. Thoughts? If you are willing to help me revise my resume' please let me know how to contact you. Thanks G

What is a proper way to send a resume through email?
Q. When companies ask you to submit your resume through email, would you just copy and paste the resume to the body of the email, or would you write a little message and then attached the resume to the email. I herd it doesn't matter which way you do it, but I just want to be sure for the next time I want to submit my resume.
Asked by LovelyLady87 - Thu Aug 26 12:29:01 2010 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments

A. There are multiple ways to send it through e-mail. I'll list the way that HR reps have told me the way they like to see it. In the title of the E-mail list the position and job reference number. In the body of the e-mail is your cover letter. Find out the name of the person who is handling the e-mail resumes for the job position. That is a must. If you can not find out who it is use "Dear Sir or Madam". Anything else is a guaranteed removal from the pile of potential applicants. Speak a bit about the position and talk up the points where you are a good fit. Normal cover letter stuff. Don't include the website that you found it at, do include a phone number under your name as you sign below. Attach your resume with your name as… [cont.]

Now I am planning on using the car again. Can I just call them and ask them to send me a monthly fee and get insurance resumed or do I need to go to insurance place and talk to Insurance sales agent and pay $200 finders fee again? I don't want to pay those fees again. Is there a way to resume my insurance without those extra fees. I am a California resident.

A. You will have to start a new policy with a new application. You should call around and get another agent. The $200 finders fee is excessive. Try this site to find the best auto insurance Here you can get quotes from different auto insurance companies in your area, its the best way to find an affordable auto insurance with a reliable company.

What his goals are. Making it nice and full may only hide the good stuff. So one page is good enough if that is all he can fill. He will want to do a job search and pick out all of the "key" words and work them into his resume. For example: Special Security Sniper trained Black belt in Karate Management background things like that...go on line and find some good examples. If your worried about length then make the font bigger and add an objective, accomplishments and your hobbies(that apply to the position). Its a life saver if you want it done good and quick.

A. A great resume does not only relay your previous work experience, but like any great ad, advertises the specific benefits of working with you. One of the first things that an employer sees on your resume is your objective statement. It is often debated whether you should include this statement at all and if you choose to, how specific it needs to be. The objective is most useful when the person reading your resume is unsure of the position you re applying for, usually because this was never made clear by the company or if you re just entering the work-force with an entry-level job. The general pitfalls of an objective statement is either making it too specific or too vague. Though the hiring manager wants to be able to tell immediately… [cont.]

A. You don't need a regular job history to build a resume. Mention any volunteer work first and foremost. What did you do in high school? Were you on any athletic teams, in the band, part of a club? Mention that. Did you tutor your peers? Add it. Did you babysit neighborhood kids or younger cousins? Mention that, too. Don't forget to add any leadership positions or special awards you received. You want prospective employers to know that you're a hard worker. Were you the captain of the tennis team? Make sure to include that. National Honor Society? Add that as well. Were you offered a special scholarship for a college you applied to? Include that as well, even if you didn't end up going to that college. I worked throughout high school, but… [cont.]

A. Hi. The one thing you have working for you is your age. All employers will recognize that you won't have previous work experience and will not count that against you. In fact, there are not many 15 year-olds that take the time to even write a resume so you are already at an advantage. I wrote an article about this that you may find helpful: You want to write a functional resume -- that means that you write out who you are as a person, including your skills and talents on the top of the page, then write out some of the things you've done (your volunteer work is perfect for this). In your resume, focus on the volunteering you've done, what you did in volunteering, and how you made a positive impact at the place you volunteered at. It' [cont.]

A. The first part will have your Name/address/phone or email address. Then, if you have worked anywhere in the past, you want to list that with the latest job first. You could probably mix in any other volunteer stuff you've done. After that, you can list your education.. where you are in high school, what you're taking. Finally you can list clubs/organizations you may be in and special accomplishments.
